– Four men allegedly robbed two teenagers at Conroe’s Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The teens, a male and a female, were sitting on bleachers at the park around 5 p.m. when four black men allegedly approached them, One of the men allegedly punched the male teen in the face and took his cell phone, while a second man allegedly took the female teen’s mp3 player. The male teen later refused medical treatment. When police arrived an “unknown witness” had observed the alleged robbery and returned the female teen’s mp3 player to her.

A month after the city of Conroe started charging for the use of its parking lot in the theater district, several long-term downtown business owners contend the lot is driving customers away. Before the Conroe City Council adopted a rate of $1 an hour between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, parking was free throughout downtown for two hours during that same time period. Business owners estimate 12-15 cars would use that parking lot each day. But since the fee was implemented, they say the number has fallen to between three and five a day. The city’s parking lot hasn’t generated much in the way in revenue. During the first 24 days in which the city operated its electronic parking meter Conroe collected $699 in fees. The city received another $58 in revenue between October and December when parking fines were not enforced. If all 56 parking spaces had been occupied the first 24 days the meter system went into effect, the city would have collected $12,096. The city purchased its meter machine for approximately $15,000,

Several motorcycle officers were escorting a funeral procession to the Klien Funeral Home on FM 1488 in Magnolia. When they entered the intersection of Tamina Road several witnesses stated a gold Toyota struck one of the motorcycles. However DPS Troopers were unable to locate any paint transfer from the car to the motorcycle. The vehicle continued down FM 1488. They believe Officer Shannon of the Harris County Constables Office took evasive action to avoid the truck and when he did another Officer with the Port of Houston Police slammed into Shannon with his Gold wing motorcycle. MCHD treated both officers on the scene. Deputy Shannon was then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition with a crushed left leg.

A 55-year-old Montana man who says he "always wanted" to be part of a police chase can check that off his bucket list. The Montana Standard reports John Hughes followed a patrol car for seven blocks early Thursday before pulling his SUV around and taking off at speeds of up to 70 mph. Officers say the man was driving faster than 100 mph on the interstate. Montana Officers laid out a spiked strip to flatten the tires on the SUV. A police report says Hughes told officers he "just always wanted" to see what it would be like to be in a police chase. Officers say Hughes had not been drinking. Hughes faces a charge of reckless driving while eluding police.
